‘Friends of HBTN’

Help ‘Friends of HBTN’ are people who support the work of the organisation by subscribing. The annual cost is 10. We enjoy meeting up with many of them at our two annual social events and a quarterly newsletter ‘Vision’ from the Chairman keeps them informed of the charity's activities. If you would like to become a ‘Friend’ why not meet others like yourselves at one of our events for listeners and Friends?

Read our latest edition (number 19, Summer 2017) of the ‘Vision’ newsletter.

The Coronation Tea was held on Friday June 14th 2013 at the Borrow Centre (Age Concern) in Cowplain and was a great success. To everyone's surprise, the afternoon opened with a recorded welcome from BBC South Today presenter Sally Taylor, who congratulated HBTN on achieving 20 years of service to the visually impaired community of Havant. You can listen to Sally's message.
Tony Humphreys, an excellent singer/guitarist, kept us all entertained with a mix of 'oldies but goodies' to which we could sing along, until a bounteous supply of food provided by the ladies was served. A raffle with generous prizes was organised and mc'd by Myra, who also reprised and extended her interview with Tim Gudgin from the Summer 2013 edition of 'Look Hear', which you can listen to on the Listen in! page. The event provided a great opportunity to give our listeners a grand day out and for the Volunteers and Listeners to meet each other, and exchange views and suggestions about the style and content of the fortnightly Talking News.
